2011 DIAMOND GUILD AUSTRALIA JEWELLERY AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Diamond Guild Australia is delighted to announce the winners of the 2011 Diamond Guild Australia Jewellery Awards. 

This was the fourth biennial Diamond Guild Australia Jewellery Awards event, which showcases the Australian diamond jewellery industry and its impressive and talented designers.

The Awards were presented on Wednesday night at a sparkling black-tie dinner for 140 guests at Luke Mangan’s acclaimed Glass restaurant at the Sydney Hilton hosted by special guest MC Natalie Gruzlewski.

Guests at the event enjoyed a surprise performance by Ricki-Lee Coulter of her new single befittingly entitled “Raining Diamonds” accompanied by Rachel ‘DJ Minx’ Phillips.

A number of special guests were dressed by designer Alex Perry and dazzled in jewellery from various Diamond Guild Australia member jewellers including J Farren-Price, Calleija. Musson and Dracakis Jewellers. Actress Alyssa Mc Clelland and fashion designers Camilla Freeman-Topper and Kim Ellery presented each winner with their award.

The Diamond Guild Australia awards winners for 2011 are:

Winners were selected by a judging panel comprised of fashion designer Alex Perry; renowned jewellery photographer David Perryman; award-winning jeweller representing the Diamond Guild Australia, John Calleija; Editor of Harper’s BAZAAR, Edwina McCann, and; Editor of Qantas The Australian Way, Susan Skelly. 

"The calibre of the winning pieces in this year’s Awards is world class," announced Julian Farren- Price of the Diamond Guild Australia. "We are thrilled to showcase the excellence of Australian diamond jewellery design in this competition."

The winning pieces will be showcased in editorial to be seen by millions of Australian and international readers in the December issue of Harpers Bazaar (on sale 18 November 2011) and the November issue of Qantas - the Australian Way (on board 1 November 2011).

FINALISTS:

Diamond Guild Australia is delighted to announce the finalists of the 2011 Diamond Guild Australia Jewellery Awards in association with our media partners Harper’s Bazaar and Qantas – The Australian Way magazine.

This most prestigious and highly regarded competition is the pinnacle of Australian jewellery design, attracting entries from some of the finest artisan jewellers across the country.

Showcasing the most innovative and inspired design in jewellery, the Awards allow entrants to create unique pieces that push the boundaries of creativity. Unlike any other Australian competition only pieces featuring natural diamonds are considered - highlighting the dazzling beauty and brilliance of these most alluring of all gemstones.

In 2011 Diamond Guild Australia invited over 150 retail jewellers from across the country to participate in five categories reflecting the most current trends in design 

Entries received in this year’s competition were of an exceptional standard in both design and craftsmanship and the judges were faced with the challenge of selecting only three pieces in each category. We are honoured to have such an esteemed panel of high profile design experts to judge this year’s competition:

The finalist pieces will be showcased in editorial features in both the October issue of Qantas – The Australian Way magazine (on board all Qantas flights from 1 October) and the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar (on sale from 10 October). 

The finalists of the 2011 Diamond Guild Australian Awards will be celebrated at a glittering gala dinner to be held in Sydney on 19 October where the winners of each category will be announced.
