Diamond Guild Australia is delighted to welcome South Australian jewellery institution, Martin Rogers Jewellery, one again to its membership. Martin Rogers has always reflected the Benchmark of Excellence upheld by the Guild illustrated through their three-decade commitment to handcrafted excellence and nurturing home-grown jewellery talent.

A Legacy built on Craft

Martin Rogers Jewellery was founded in 1989 by Martin Farkas and Roger Black, who set out with a simple but determined philosophy: to train their own jewellers in the art of design and the craft of manufacturing exceptional, unique jewellery. More than thirty-five years on, and with new owner and master jeweller, Andrew Mitchell at the helm, that philosophy still defines the studio. Dozens of industry awards and a deeply loyal client base are a testament to a vision that has never wavered, and to the generations of jewellers who have carried it forward.

Handcrafted from start to finish

In an industry where outsourcing of jewellery manufacturing has become more common practice, Martin Rogers has held firm. Every piece that leaves the studio is handcrafted in-house, from concept through to final polish.
 
“I like to think that our complete dedication to handcrafting unique pieces from start to finish distinguishes us as a brand,” Andrew explains. “We value craftsmanship above all, ensuring that only the highest quality pieces are leaving our store.”
It’s an approach that requires patience, skill, and a refusal to cut corners. The result is jewellery with a depth and individuality that mass production simply cannot match.

We relentlessly strive for perfection for both our clients, as well as our own artistic integrity,” Andrew says. “We aim to ensure the pieces we create for our clients not only meet their expectations but exceed them. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do.

The next generation of jewellers

Ask Andrew what he is  most proud of, and the answer isn’t a single piece. It’s the people.
 
While there are many pieces I am proud of, I am most proud of those created by our apprentices and jewellers. To see the work they produce makes me so happy to know our skills will survive another generation.
 
The pride is well earned. One former Martin Rogers apprentice, now qualified, has been named a finalist in major design awards and taken home wins of her own. Another has produced a piece that recently received international acclaim. For a studio founded on the principle of training its own, there is no better measure of success.
