The Mondial story began in 1962 when Fred and Maria Neuman opened a jewellery store called Carina Jewellers on Darlinghurst Road in the fashionable East Sydney area known as Kings Cross.
There are currently 2 Mondial Boutiques – Mondial Pink Diamond Atelier, established in the iconic Queen Victoria Building for over 25 years and Mondial by Nadia Neuman, located just down the road in the Strand Arcade. The company directors are available to clients in each store, with Michael and Jacob Neuman operating the QVB boutique and Nadia, designing for and assisting clients in the Strand Arcade.
Mondial in the Queen Victoria Building has long been renowned for its selection of fine pink diamond jewellery, created using rare pink diamonds from the Argyle mine in Australia. Each item is made one by one, each design bringing something different to the display, allowing customers a variety and choice, acknowledged as being the largest anywhere in the world.
Mondial has a unique association with Argyle, going back over 30 years and it is this long history and expertise with pink diamonds which provides Mondial the ability to cater to the widest possible range of pink diamond enquiries.
Alongside the pinks, Mondial also love working with other natural coloured diamonds and always have Yellow, Champagne, Cognac and rare Blue and Red diamonds from the Argyle mine available in the QVB boutique. These diamonds are showcased in an array of rings, pendants and earrings, or are available to be made into new items of jewellery for clients.
Natural coloured diamonds are a growing and very specialised area of diamond jewellery and Mondial have the years of experience and expertise with these unique and often rare gems, to ensure that customers are given the right information and the best diamond suited to their requirements.
The Mondial boutique in the Strand Arcade features the bold and stylish creations of Nadia Neuman. Nadia, who has won Jewellery design awards both in Australia and internationally, loves to create jewellery which is new and refreshing, bold and energetic. As well as diamonds, many of her pieces feature beautiful sapphires, rubies, emeralds and tourmalines, often in unusual and surprising colours. Nadia is usually available instore and loves to design in consultation with her customers, bringing to life a new jewellery piece, just for them.
The hallmark of the Mondial brand is listening to the customer and delivering a piece of jewellery which has been specially crafted for them. We believe that the client comes first and everything follows from that. This collaboration between the client and Mondial’s expert and attentive team results in premium jewellery which is all about the purchaser, tailored to their tastes, budget and requirements. From award-winning, avant-garde designs which grab attention, to more modest and subtle but still exquisitely wrought items, a piece of Mondial jewellery is created to be stamped with the personality and wishes of its wearer, to be stylish and to stand the tests of time. We realise that often an item of jewellery will become a treasured legacy, an heirloom and memory for a descendent, family member or cherished friend. No matter the budget or brief, how simple or elaborate, at Mondial, the same dedication to high standards and pursuit of quality, value and customer satisfaction drives everything we do.
While Fred Neuman has stepped back from active involvement in the Mondial Group, the grounding and example both he and Maria passed onto the family is evident in all aspects of the business – from the focus on customer service and satisfaction, to the quality of design, manufacturing and materials used.
Fred was the inaugural recipient of the Jewellers Association of Australia’s Lifetime achievement award in 2014 for his outstanding contribution to the jewellery industry and his family business Mondial is proud to be carrying on in his footsteps.
