Diamond grading is a detailed evaluation of a gem by a qualified professional using the Gemological Institute of America’s 4 Cs system or the American Gem Society’s AGS 0–10 grading scale.

You must take a course from a recognised authority in the industry, such as the Gemological Institute of America, to understand how to grade diamonds. Handling components for assessment requires manual dexterity. For accurate assessments, sharp close-up vision is required, as is some computer ability. You’ll require good interpersonal skills to communicate with clients, other professionals, and coworkers, especially in trade and auction contexts.
